little brown book

there once was a girl who had a book
every page filled and the next one would
be blank in a kind of accepting way
no questions asked of her today
and when she was happy she wrote it all down
and when she was fucked off she turned in into a poem
and when she was nervous she coloured around
things she wrote yesterday to keep her on the ground
and I couldn’t live without it
I couldn’t live without it
She couldn’t live without it
until the day she let it sail away
she told it of love she wrote it away
it knew all her secrets in a kind of ambiguous way
to look at it you would have known it meant a lot
and that you could not decipher her thoughts
and I...
down by the river the sun was low
it bounced off the water and back onto the book
all of it’s colours glowed with orangey light
and she let the book slip out her fingers that night
and I didn’t see it coming
and I see the river running
she saw the sun a shining
and let it sail away

leave it on

leave it on
there’s just enough light
leave it on
and I can see your face again and again
there’s nothing on tv
so put on a dvd
and we will watch the night away
from series to series
oh we want to see these
but when we’re bored of that
there’s nothing worth watching
but we are still watching
we’re worlds apart from what’s in front
from colour to darkness
I wish that the darks parts
could last for just a few seconds more
